GUIDE TO CLUB UNIFORMS: STYLE AND CUSTOMISATION
The European figure skating championships in Moscow have just ended, were you following them? There were some brilliant performances by the fantastic skaters who took part!
As technical partners of the Russian Federation, we feel we played a part too, because we made the outfits for the team.
A club uniforms is what distinguishes its members from other teams at competitions and when they’re training. That’s why it’s mandatory to wear the club uniforms at major competitions, such as the various national, European and world championships, and the Olympics. Every club has its own uniform, of course, which incorporates the unique elements that distinguish it from other team outfits and is worn by all the athletes in the team.
Each sporting discipline has specific regulations for the design of its uniforms:
– for ice skating outfits comprising a jacket and leggings in thermal fabrics are the norm;
– for roller skating it’s a bodysuit with skirt, embellished with transparent sections and embroidery, sometimes with a jacket and trousers or leggings. In this discipline, the club uniforms can be used for performance in competitions and compulsory elements;
– the uniform for artistic gymnastics is a long-sleeved bodysuit, with a skirt for the rhythmic sections;
– for swimming and in synchronized swimming the uniform includes a swimming suit for performances, and team tracksuits comprising jackets and trousers for awards ceremonies.
The fabric they’re made of varies according to the type of model and the sporting discipline, while colour is extremely important because is the main element that identifies the team.
Club uniforms should reflect the club logo and colours, or the colours of the national flag. The name of the club (or country for national teams) or name of the sponsor, is often printed or embroidered on the jacket too.

PARTNERSHIP WITH THE RUSSIAN FIGURE SKATING FEDERATION
It was a pleasure to work with the Russian Federation: we took careful note of their technical and styling requirements and created various suggestions for the club uniforms.
The outfits are made from highly technical, thermal, bi-elastic anti-pilling materials that are strong and breathable, in colours reflecting the distinctive Russian flag: light blue, red and white. We designed the club uniforms to include jackets and leggings for women, and jackets and trousers for men.
